John Henry, the owner of Liverpool FC, took full responsibility and issued an apology to fans, players and Jürgen Klopp.
This comes after the announcement that the European Super League won’t have any Premier League sides in the proposed competition, as all six teams withdrew from plans.
The teams faced widespread criticism after the announcement on Sunday of the 12-team league. Ed Woodward, vice-chairman of Manchester United, also announced his resignation.
