The palace has announced the death of Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh. In a statement they wrote “ It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband , His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle”.
Prince Philip was born on 10th June 1921 and got married to the Queen (then a princess) in 1947. The Prince and Queen had Four Children, eight grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
The Duke in the course of last month was hospitalised for close to a month and he went through a procedure for a pre existing heart condition.
The prime minister has also issued a statement from Downing Street . He said “ He inspired the lives of countless young people. He helped steer the Royal family and the Monarchy so that it remains an institution indisputably vital to the balance and happiness of our national life”.
