Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press ahead of Real Madrid’s LaLiga Santander clash with Real Valladolid.
Nevertheless, much of the focus of the discussion was on PSG’s 4-1 demolition of Barcelona in midweek, led by Zidane’s compatriot Kylian Mbappe, who is frequently linked with a move to Real Madrid.
“I watch all the games and I always enjoy when I see good things. I’m just like all fans in that sense,” he said, when asked if he’d watched PSG’s win.
Yet he wasn’t so open when asked if he was keen on signing the French star.
“I will not go into that. Yes, everyone talks about the game, and what Mbappe did does not surprise anyone because I know him.
“I watched it as a fan and, to make it clear, the most important thing is what we have to do tomorrow and the rest I watch with pleasure and attention.”
Asked if Erling Haaland and Mbappe could be the successors of Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi on the world stage, Zidane said it’s possible.
“We will see, they are very good, like Messi, Cristiano and Neymar,” Zidane stated.
“They are younger, [and are] the players of the present and the future.”
