Scotland Yard chief Cressida Dick had said a senior officer “mistakenly” described claims by fantasist Carl Beech of a Westminster abuse ring as “credible and true” in a 2014 press conference.
Met commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe also said the remark had been made while the officer was under “pressure” from the media.
But it has emerged the probe’s officers used the same terms in an application for an arrest warrant the following year.
Ex-Tory MP Harvey Proctor, whose home was searched, said: “It could not be clearer that Dame Cressida lied through her teeth. She should resign.”
“There is something rotten at the heart of the Metropolitan Police and the only way to weed it out is with a full public inquiry.
“Do we want to live in a country where police officers are not answerable or accountable for their actions? “If something is not done, it will happen again and again, to more and more innocent people.
“I am already aware of at least one other famous person whose home has been raided on equally dubious grounds.”
